A total of 28 team members travelled as a group from the  Gold Coast to Kuala Lumpur, and onto Penang, with the assistance and guidance  of Air Asia X and Air Asia.  Air Asia X supported our team by providing  group booking facilities, our own personal Air Asia X booking liaison officer,  and assisted with transporting all the Club's competition sporting  equipment.

GAMBLING COMMUNITY BENEFIT FUND

In 2009, the Queensland Government's Gambling Community Benefit Fund provided Broadwater Dragons funds to support our club with the essential equipment we require to cater for increasing membership numbers. It also provides us with the resources needed to participate in our "Come and Try" days as well as running our community orientated regattas.

BROADWATER DRAGONS HAVE  SUPPORTED-

Cancer Council  Australia-
Broadwater Dragons team members competed in the Sanctuary  Cove, Gold Coast, Cancer  Dragon Boat Challenge Marathon in June 2009- a  race over 7.5 kms- which was held to race money for Cancer Council Australia,  and to raise the awareness of prostate cancer with men.  All team members  contributed through race entry fees, and purchasing raffle tickets on the  day.

Broadwater Dragons won the Marathon, and donated the winning  prize of  $500 cash (donated by Hyatt Regency,Sanctuary Cove) as well as  the $100 winnings from the "Dash for Cash" event to the Cancer Council  Australia.

Red Cross Samoan Disaster Relief  Fund-
In October, 2009, the Club hosted a Corporate and Community  Dragon Boat Festival on Emerald Lakes, Carrara, with 14 teams and over 350  participants taking part in a seriosly fun and community spirited competition.  Due to the Club's Samoan connections, the members of Broadwater Dragons  decided to raise funds from the local community to donate to the Red Cross  Disaster Relief Appeal. The collection tin was also at the local Bunnings  fundraiser Sausage Sizzle the week after the regatta, with a total of $208  collected from both events.
The Club donated in total $500 to the Red Cross  Appeal.
