Our members area has been completed. It features information and news on paddling techniques, out of water training, diet, testing, sweep techniques, videos etc.
We ran it, and we WON it all !!!!!!!!
We had 2 boats- the Masters "Barbarians" and the Prems and Masters combined "Broadwater Babies", and we showed off our new rescue boat.
The Barbarians (with a crew of 18)- led by PT and swept by Dion- took out 1st place from a field of 13 boats, winning for our Club an awesome trophy. The Babies had a crew of 16 (due to the flu hitting a lot of our paddlers), and finished a very respectable 8th.
Many commented that the 7.5 kms wasn’t as hard as they thought it would be- maybe they just weren’t putting in enough (ha!ha!)
The Dash for Cash over 300m, with a 180 degree turn at the 150m mark, made for spectacular racing, and great viewing. Broadwater Barbarians won first place and $600, and the Babies came 3rd, winning $100. True to the spirit of the day, Paul donated our winnings back to the Cancer Council.
As you can all see from my previous email, it was a huge day, with Presentations at 1-30 p.m.
Today was all about having fun, mixing with other Clubs, and supporting a worthwhile charity. Winning was a huge bonus.
We looked good, we did good, and we were seen by many.
TRAINING IS BACK TO TUESDAYS AND THURSDAYS STARTING THIS WEEK. 5-30P.M. ON THE WATER

To all the premier Paddlers, I just want to clarify there is no prem’s training session this weekend Sat 29 Novemeber. An email will be released at the end of this week with the full season’s training and testing dates, as well as locations. QDBF is hosting three sessions on coaching, insurance, and grants over a full day.
Two members from each club are invited to attend the sessions – they do not have to be the same people at each session.
Session details
9.00am to 11.30am
Coaching – provide information for club coaches on coaching techniques for all categories, and ideas on skill and team development.
Facilitator – Bruce Eckersley – QDBF Technical Director
LUNCH 11.30 to 12.15pm
12.15 to 2.15 pm
Insurance – provide information on QDBF insurance requirements, type of coverage provided, data required, administration of insurance register and other information on the insurance process.

Grants – An information session on how to write a successful grant application, how to use the grant guides to write the grant and information on available grants
