QDBF’s new Website

Published by under News Update

Hi, all
I am not sure if you have had a chance to look around the QDBF’s new
website, so I thought I would give you a quick run down of what is on it.
There are seven sections -
About QDBF – Covering the history of QDBF, latest news, photo gallery
and info about 2009 Nationals, and the QDBF Vision Statement.
About our sport – General info, training and accreditation info,
results and links
Corporate information – Fundings and grants acknowledgment, Dragons
Abreast, Media guide, QDBF Governance, Corporate sponsorship
information and Club Development.
In the Club Development, there is a guide called Dragon Scales. It is
a nine module guide to setting up a club from scratch with documents
templates for agendas, meeting minutes, membership forms, budget
documents, grants and funding info, press release templates and a heap
of other documents that can be used by any club.
New paddlers – a section for people interested in the sport with links
to the clubs by area
Members login – Here you will find minutes from meetings going back to
2005, Insurance documents, and other forms.
Events calendar – if there is something you would like to add, please
let me know.
Contact us.
Hopefully this website will see the sport through the next few years.
If you have anything you would like to contribute, please let me know.
Cheers, Annette

Advanced Training Camp

Published by under News Update

Thanks for those Broadwater Dragon paddlers that participated in the Advanced Training Camp on the weekend…. great to get outside analysis of our technique and stroke and consultation for competitive team performance. For those that wanted more information about Kamini and Andrea…

Bio for Kamini Jain Kamini Jain
Kamini brings to her coaching more than two and a half decades of success as both an athlete and coach. The cornerstone of her approach is born from a devotion to sprint kayaking which included nine years on the Canadian National Team, 11 World Cup medals and berths in two Olympic finals (2000 (Sydney!!) and 2004). Since 2004, she has been coaching various paddling disciplines. In dragon boat she has coached Vancouver’s False Creek Racing Canoe Clubs (FCRCC) Mens and Mixed Premier Dragon Boat Teams to 8 World Championship medals since 2006, including four gold medals at the 2006 World Club Crew Championships, a gold and silver at the 2007 IDBF World Championships (in Sydney!) and a 500m victory at the 2009 IDBF World Championships. Kamini is the coach for the Canadian Premier Open and Mixed Teams for the 2011 IDBF World Championships in Tampa next August and is striving toward more podium finishes there. Despite her coaching focus on high performance paddling, Kamini is able to speak to coaches and paddlers of all levels as she gives regular seminars and coaches various community teams including Vancouvers breast cancer survivor teams, Abreast in A Boat. Although a patriotic Canadian, Kamini has no hesitation in sharing her knowledge with the Australian Dragon Boat Community. Kamini is owner and operator of Right Angle Performance. For more information, please visit her website http://www.rightangleperformance.com/.

Bio for Andrea DillionAndrea Dillon
Andrea has been paddling, coaching and instructing canoe sports for 38 years. She has been involved in dragon boat racing longer than any other North American as she was on the team that won the first ever North American dragon boat race in Vancouver at the 1986 World Expo. For every year since that first race, she has paddled on or coached the successful FCRCCs Womens Dragon Boat Team. In addition, she coached the Canadian Premier Womens Team for five IDBF World Dragonboat Championships with podium finishes in each one, steered the Canadian Senior Womens Team to four gold medals at the 2009 IDBF World Championships and co-coached the Premier Mixed Team to a gold medal at the same event. She teams with Kamini to coach the FCRCC High Performance Dragon Boat Program, 2010 Champions in Premier Mixed, Open and Womens, and Canadian Premier Mixed Dragon Boat Team. Andrea is a partner in the paddling event company Waters Edge(http://www.canpaddle.com/)
