Updated Calendar

Published by under News Update

Hi All,

Our Club has just been offered 2 more sausage sizzles at Bunnings Southport.  Things have changed in that Bunnings now provide all food and extras, plus we can sell drinks.  The cafe inside is now being run by Bunnings, so they can now offer all weekends for fundraising groups.  We have been making about $1200 profit from each sausage sizzle we have done this year, so let’s hope our good run continues.

See attached updated calendar.

If you are able to help at any of these, please see Irene (Fundraising and Social Director)
Thank you

Karen

Day trip to Bundaberg 6 July

Published by under News Update

From: Susan Doel
To: QDBF Members

Hi everyone

This may be another call asking for paddlers to do something, but it is aimed at individuals not at clubs so I am sincerely hoping that you will pass this message on to your members.

Bundy Dragons is a very new club that is in the process of getting set up and running.

They are holdling a Come Try on 6 July, and QDBF are supporting this by taking up some paddlers to work with their very new team and giving members of the public a dragon boat experience.

Programme for the day is 11 am – 12 pm Training with Bundy Dragons, 12 pm – 2 pm Come Try and Sausage Sizzle.

The venue is the Bundaberg Sailing Club ie good facilites and lovely setting.

So we are looking for paddlers happy to have a day out at Bundaberg, all costs funded by the Development Grant. Going up on Saturday could be an option if people are interested. They tell me it is still summer in Bundaberg.

Please let me know if you are interested as soon as possible, so that we can get transport arranged.

Regards

Penang Crew

Published by under News Update

Hi to our Penang Crew,

TRAINING IS A MUST FOR ALL PENANG CREW THIS SUNDAY- Be there by 7-30 a.m. for a good warm up. NO EXCUSES.

AFTER TRAINING- MEETING TO FINALIZE DETAILS, MAKE DECISIONS, ETC.

PLEASE DO NOT HIT THE TOWN TOO HARD SATURDAY NIGHT, SO YOU ARE AWAKE (JONO), NOT HUNG OVER (YOU KNOW WHO I AM REFERRING TO) SO WE CAN ALL PUT IN A STRONG SESSION.

6 weeks till we leave for Penang. Start focusing, get serious, visualize the races. We are there to compete, not just participate.

QDBF’s new Website

Published by under News Update

Hi, all
I am not sure if you have had a chance to look around the QDBF’s new
website, so I thought I would give you a quick run down of what is on it.
There are seven sections -
About QDBF – Covering the history of QDBF, latest news, photo gallery
and info about 2009 Nationals, and the QDBF Vision Statement.
About our sport – General info, training and accreditation info,
results and links
Corporate information – Fundings and grants acknowledgment, Dragons
Abreast, Media guide, QDBF Governance, Corporate sponsorship
information and Club Development.
In the Club Development, there is a guide called Dragon Scales. It is
a nine module guide to setting up a club from scratch with documents
templates for agendas, meeting minutes, membership forms, budget
documents, grants and funding info, press release templates and a heap
of other documents that can be used by any club.
New paddlers – a section for people interested in the sport with links
to the clubs by area
Members login – Here you will find minutes from meetings going back to
2005, Insurance documents, and other forms.
Events calendar – if there is something you would like to add, please
let me know.
Contact us.
Hopefully this website will see the sport through the next few years.
If you have anything you would like to contribute, please let me know.
Cheers, Annette
